It is imperative though, since you mention that you don't want a dual boot system, to ensure during the formatting stage, to place the bootloader on the Flash device. What you may need to do, if you haven't already, is to disable Secure Boot for this, as I had to just to make my Macrium Reflect backup/restore Flash drive bootable on this type of system. Just to be clear: I am not interested in a dual-boot system, I only need to run Linux from the thumb drive. Assuming this thumb drive boots, will it change anything on the PC? it is very important that my machine remains exactly as it is. there is no "casper-rw" file (the persistence file) to delete in the FAT32 partition.
